Poisson Random Field
Main content start
POISSON RANDOM FIELD. Quercus agrifolia, Coast live oak.
North side of Mayfield Ave, at Lomita Dr.
The Poisson random field (PRF) model is a model that predicts patterns in allele frequencies along a branch of an evolutionary tree, and is used in particular to examine shared polymorphisms and fixed differences between a pair of species. The PRF model relies on assumptions that features of mutations on the branches follow Poisson distributions in a somewhat similar manner to the Poisson-like random placement of the coast live oaks in this field.
