BACK MUTATION.
North side of Campus Drive, near Narnia House.

In considering long-term evolution in phylogenetic models, mutations occur from one allele to another. Due to the long time scale, mutations back to the original allele are frequent enough that they cannot be ignored. Mutation rates are often denoted by the Greek letter "\(\mu\)." Rates of backward mutation are often denoted "\(\nu\)."
